新聞己經(jīng)成為人們生活中不可缺少的一部分。每天，人們都能夠從 報(bào)紙、雜志、廣播、電視以及新興媒介互聯(lián)網(wǎng)中獲得各種各樣的新聞。 其中報(bào)紙是歷史最為悠久的一種媒介，還是新聞報(bào)道的始祖。 報(bào)紙的雛形始見于 16世紀(jì)中葉的威尼斯，叫做 Gazetta，而第一份 英文報(bào)紙則于 1702年 3月 11日出版，取名為 Daily Courant。英文報(bào)紙 由此開始不斷向前發(fā)展。但它的發(fā)展總是受到政府的嚴(yán)厲控制，北美殖 民地的報(bào)紙出版也不例外。在北美的整個(gè)發(fā)展史中，報(bào)紙均扮演了重要 的角色，它也由此獲得了相應(yīng)的發(fā)展，比如在國內(nèi)戰(zhàn)爭時(shí)期，倒金字塔 式的報(bào)道結(jié)構(gòu)逐漸形成，并被報(bào)界人士奉為金科玉律從而見諸于各家報(bào) 端。隨著廣播電視等新興媒體的出現(xiàn)，報(bào)紙與其竟?fàn)幦找婕ち?，并形?了今天群雄并立的局面。 對于新聞的定義，各家并無統(tǒng)一說法，但在確定新聞價(jià)值的6個(gè)要 素方面，各家并無多大分歧，而且新聞的組成部分也大體相同，分別是 標(biāo)題、導(dǎo)語及正文。新聞標(biāo)題是整個(gè)新聞報(bào)道中最引人注目的部分，它 的形式、用詞、時(shí)態(tài)、語態(tài)、標(biāo)點(diǎn)符號及修辭手法的運(yùn)用都有其自成一 家的特點(diǎn)。而導(dǎo)語從倒金字塔式發(fā)展至今也己經(jīng)有了11種不同的形式。 匯文的采寫共有3種形式，可以滿足不同報(bào)道內(nèi)容的需要。此外，英語 新聞報(bào)道在長期發(fā)展過程中，形成了別具一格的用詞及文體特點(diǎn)，這也 影響了中英文新聞的互譯。作者認(rèn)為，中英文新聞的互譯應(yīng)該以信、達(dá)、 切、可讀性為標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，并注意一些相關(guān)問題。無論報(bào)紙經(jīng)歷了怎樣的發(fā)展 過程，現(xiàn)在存在著怎樣的問題，它的未來都充滿了希望。
